I haven't posted here in almost a year! I was watching the Twins last night and it made me thinking of the 2004 Red Sox so I came back to read all my old blog posts and relive the experience. Anyway, I'm tweeting now! Follow me if you want! http://twitter.com/JackieAS01
The bad news: I'm having roommate problems again. My two younger roommates have sort of become friends and now they're kind of making me the odd man out.
The good news: I'm moving out! I got my own place! I SIGN THE LEASE TODAY! Wed, Nov. 5th, 2008, 12:29 am Election 2008
I went with Obama today. For the record. I flip flopped like John Kerry but I went to my liberal roots in the end. And I'm happy he won.
I hope 'change' means CHANGE!
Newest drama: One of my roommates has a huge crush on my other roommate's cousin. Who happens to like me.
I couldn't make this stuff up. Mon, Oct. 13th, 2008, 10:19 pm OMG baseball
You guys. I am FREAKING OUT about the Red Sox. Seriously they make me so mad. It's like it's 2003 and Terry Francona has been body snatched and replaced with Grady Little.
It's 2003. All I'm missing is my traditional game watching 6 pack of warm Coors Light and my pack of cigarettes (for chain smoking, obviously).
They should let me coach. They should let me play, actually. Even I'm less of an automatic out than Varitek and Ortiz right now.
As my Facebook status says, I am obsessed with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Like, in a way that is not healthy. Last night I sought out and bought a T-Shirt that Dee wears in Season 3, and I'm scouring Cafe Press for more like it.
Like, I'm obsessed with it to the point where I have considered in passing moving to Philadelphia. SERIOUSLY obsessed. Thu, Oct. 2nd, 2008, 06:38 pm VP Debates
I'm VERY excited about the debates tonight, if only because I've found that I can do a pretty mean Sarah Palin impression. It's like the Sue from Survivor impression that I used to do my sophomore year of college... except much, much cuter.
Y'know. I should be Sarah Palin for Halloween. Forget Slutty Snow White.
I would seriously consider cutting bangs for myself just to pull this off. Sun, Sep. 28th, 2008, 11:51 am Halloween
Well, it is officially the time of year where I spend 4 straight weeks stressing out about my Halloween costume. An early solution has come in the form of my sister Katie's costume from last year, a slutty Snow White get-up that happens to fit me pretty well, except perhaps in the boob region, where I look a little like Pam Anderson and Dolly Parton's lost Disney Princess baby.
I tried it on this morning for my mom and dad, thinking they'd probably agree that no daughter of theirs should be slutting about New York City with her boobs hanging out. But nope, they loved it on me. My dad pointed out that boys actually really like it when girls show off their tits (thanks, Dad!) and my mom said that Halloween was all about getting slutty anyway.
I mean, when your parents give their approval for you to dress like a raging whore, I feel you should. But what do you guys think? Girls in slutty Disney costumes: good? Desperate? Trashy? Trashy only if it looks like their boobs need their own zip code? I need advice here. Tue, Sep. 23rd, 2008, 10:55 am Heroes... wtf?
We now take a break from politics to ask the following important Heroes question:
If Claire can't die, why did Peter need to save her in Season 1 to save the world?
Also? I still hate Mohinder. Tue, Sep. 9th, 2008, 03:12 pm OK...
OK, so I spoke too soon. I'm really not sure that I'm voting for McCain. I still think I'm pretty liberal at heart. All I'm saying is, I don't think McCain is as bad a choice as the Obama cult would have us believe, and I don't believe Obama is as good a choice as they'd have us believe either.
As usual I want more options. Thu, Sep. 4th, 2008, 12:04 pm Politics.
I'm thinking of voting for McCain. I'm not joking about this. In fact, if it weren't for his and Palin's crazy pro-life/anti-sex education policies I'd be pretty confident that he's my choice.
As it is I'm about 60/50. But I'll tell you this: I like Obama. I cannot stand the Obama cult. Thu, Jul. 10th, 2008, 02:05 am I am in shock.
Every once in awhile something happens that snaps you out of your self-centered world to remind you how short life is. A good friend of mine--a new friend, but a good friend nonetheless--passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack this evening. He was 41.
My last email from him came at 3:52pm today. I wrote back at 8:29pm. Doesn't seem real that I'll never get a response. Today, he and I were e-mailing back and forth, as we've been doing every day lately, joking that I didn't really believe I was loved unless I woke up to new text messages in the morning. He promised he would send me one tomorrow. And we were supposed to go out tomorrow night.
I'm not sure how the next few days will go down. I had planned to go on vacation on Friday, but now I don't know what to do. We've been friends for 8 short months, but let me tell you it was a memorable 8 months... he was even a big part of the reason I stayed in NYC.
He had a strange star power; he was a force of nature, and a mini-universe revolved around him. He will be missed.
I'd like to pretend like this is a totally inaccurate portrayal of Red Sox fans but, um, it's totally not. I feel like I went on a date with this guy one time.
Not now, Chief; I'm in the zone.
Boston.com has a great article on the pink baseball caps/pink sports merchandise/etc. sweeping the Red Sox Nation: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/06/26/why_is_this_pink_hat_so_hated/Apparently die hard Boston fans equate the pink hats with bandwagon jumping, and I think there's something to that. Living in New York as I do, I know this is not a Red Sox-exclusive problem. Yankees fans are awful about this, and Yankees fans are the biggest bandwagon jumpers I have ever seen. (I will not argue about this... people move to NYC from all over the country and suddenly become Yankees fans. It's ridiculous. Also? You would never see a Mets fan in a pink hat. Just wouldn't happen.) I'm torn on the issue. Personally, I hate the pink hats. But then again? I'm not a gal with an enormous amount of pink in her wardrobe to begin with (which is not to say I'm anti-pink...I wear the stuff). I do have a green Red Sox shirt with a shamrock on it... same dif right? Worse, I think the pink hat hatred might be sort of gender-fueled, which seems pretty b.s. to me. I mean, if a woman wants to rock a pink hat, more power to her. And really? Who cares? Fri, Jun. 27th, 2008, 11:26 am Holy hot
OK, this video makes me want to have the sex with Tim McGraw, like, immediately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiAAIqFOrZE&eurl=http://www.thesuperficial.com/page2.phpIn the pantheon of hot things you've ever seen a guy do, this has to rank up there right? He literally rips an unruly fan out of the crowd during a concert, tosses him across the stage, and then goes right back to singing. HOT!!!!! (P.S. - Does anyone know how to imbed you tube clips on Livejournal? Who can teach me this?)
I had an interview scheduled this morning from 10:30 to 11:30. Since it takes me about 30-45 minutes to get down to the interview location from my office, I thought it would be silly to go into work first and then leave at 10 for the interview, considering I usually roll into work at about 9:30. So I told my boss I had a late morning doctor appointment and that I would work from home this morning until the doctor appointment, then come into the office.
Alas, at the last minute this morning, 1/2 of the interview has been canceled, I don't have to be at the interview location until 11, and the other portion of the interview will be rescheduled at a later date. Now, I can't go into the office because I've already told my boss I've got a doctor appointment. Essentially, it's a wasted excuse, because I'll have to make up a new excuse to go back in.
Soooo irritating. It's like these people don't think you have another job!!! What's worse is I had an interview scheduled for yesterday, and I didn't think I could get the time off for both, so I canceled that one. UGH!! Wed, Jun. 18th, 2008, 03:06 pm Chicago.
I turned the Chicago job down. My roommate Ashley (she of the 400lb boyfriend) and I are going to try and find a 2-bed together, and because I like her infinitely more than any of my other post-college roommates (except for Kelly), I think we'll work out.
And, because I think I might've burned some bridges in doing so, and because I think layoffs here are coming, my job search has begun again.
First stop? Microsoft. Then Yahoo. I know, I work quickly. Wed, Jun. 18th, 2008, 10:55 am Weird.
